About Me

I am Aiyannah de Silva, 13 years old. I am a grade 8 student in Saint Michael Academy. My mom and friends call me Yanang/Yana. I live with my mom and my step dad. I love painting, sketching, drawing, and photography. I also just recently got hooked to animes. I spend my past time watching animes on Youtube and Netflix. I also love dogs. In fact, I have three Aspins, Chinchin who is turning 4 years old, Snow who just turned two this month, and Choco who is one year old. But right now, I don’t have them with me because we transferred to an apartment from our house in Airport Village forcing us to leave my dogs behind. I want to be a veterinarian someday and save money to build shelters for stray dogs so they can be cared for and eventually adopted.

These are my dogs Chinchin, Choco and Snow. They make my life complete and happy. I am sad though that they are not with me because we left them . 

We couldn't bring them to our new place because we are just renting now. I hope I can be with them again. 

My first day as a grade 7 Student.

These were another firsts. My first day as a grade 7 Student. I was nervous going to a new school and meeting new people, new teachers and being in a new school. Mom really drove me to school for the first day. I had to bring a whote hanky, a rosary beads, and a rosary guide.

This was my graduation.

 

This was my graduation. I had mixed feelings because I was going to be in high school already in a new environment. I was leaving my friends, my teachers and my school.  Mom was with me and took pictures of me and my friends as remembrance.

Hobbies and Interests

 

I have been painting since I was small. I love painting on canvass or on paper. I like abstract expressionism because I find it easier to execute. I am lucky my mom always supports me and grants me my requests whenever I need her to buy me materials. 

I also love sketching and drawing. These are just some of my work. I try my best to practice and refine my art so I can create more beautiful and realistic pieces in the future. This talent helps me a lot especially in project and assignments because I do my own drawings and sketching and I don’t need to ask for help.

Social Problems

 1. New normal in education

I find it hard being in the new normal and learning independently with modules. I still prefer learning inside the classroom with teachers guiding us and providing explanations and elaborations. It is easier to be distracted at home because there is tv, Netflix, and Youtube.  In this new set up, we have to learn on own and being a kid learning independently is still difficult. I am fortunate that my mom guides me whenever I need her help. But most of the time, I do all the answering and my mom just lets me take over my own learning. 

2. Poverty

I always pity those who have less in life. Whenever I see old people begging or those with ragged clothes my heart always melts and aches for them. I try to include them in my prayers. My mom always reminds me to pray for those in need especially the poor and the sick. I want to be rich someday so I can help them. My mom makes sure I understand their struggles and she even lets me help whenever they have gift giving so I can see first hand these people and that we have to help as much as we can.

The purpose of my webpage 

Having a webpage will enable me to express myself about my views about life and about things that matter in the world. This webpage will not only be for the beautiful and the good but even the bad and the ugly. I will make sure my blog will be an inspiration to others to look for what is good and beautiful in this complicated world.  This will be dedicated to sharing my experiences, my thoughts and opinions on things that matter not only to me but also to the society.
